What is Gift of Life?

The Gift of Life of District 7510 provides free heart surgery for children from countries where the surgery is not available.

Rotary District 7510 arranges for one parent and the child to come to New Jersey, USA, for the surgery. The District pays for the air fare, pre-surgical care, surgery and post surgery needs. We also house the parent and child at a Rotarian’s home and drive the child and parent to and from the hospital as needed. All of this is provided at NO COST to the child or parent.

According to the Journal of Medicine of the American Association of Thoracic Surgery, 93% of the world’s population or about 4.5 billion people have no access to cardiac surgery. The expanding gap between wealthy and poor countries of the world represents the single greatest threat to our free standing democracy and peace. This is only one of Rotary’s ways of building peace and understanding throughout the world.
