RI Service Above Self Award Nominating Committee
The purpose of this committee is to search for, select, and propose Rotarians from our District 7510 for the Rotary International Service Above Self Award.
This is a very prestigious award. The Directors of RI select a limited number of recipients each year, usually about 150 world wide. There are 530 Rotary Districts in the world.
The committee consists of Chair PDG D. Michael Hart, the Immediate Past District Governor, and the previous award recipients. The sitting Governor needs to approve any selections made by the committee, and is permitted to submit three candidates. The Immediate PDG is also permitted to submit three candidates, and the Past Rotary International Director is allowed to sign the application form as well.
The RI committee is looking specifically for "Hands-On" experience, and projects the candidate has started and carried through.
The process is kept secret until the winners are announced from RI. This is to protect the feelings of the candidates and the clubs submitting them.
