The mission of The Rotary Foundation is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty.

The Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation supported solely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians and friends of the Foundation who share its vision of a better world.

Thirty Million Children A Year Die From PREVENTABLE Diseases
      
840 Million people in the world are malnourished – they are always hungry This is one out of every seven people worldwide

45,000 people a year die each month in the Congo
      
From non violent causes – malaria, diarrhea, pneumonia or malnutrition

1.2 Billion People don’t have safe Drinking water.
Over 90% of all diseases are water borne

      
This is 1/5 of the people in the world 2.4 Billion people in the world live without any sanitation

A Billion People in the world can’t read or write.

This is more than 1/5 of the people in the world There are 900 Million illiterate people on this earth, of whom two thirds are females In the US there are 40 million functionally illiterate adults


Some Major Projects Funded By The RI Foundation

PolioPlus: over $700 Million has been funded
More than two billion children have received the oral polio vaccine in the world for the eradication of Polio.

Health, Hunger and Humanity (3-H) Grants: : $74 Million has been funded
For Projects that enhance health, help alleviate hunger or improve human development.

Matching Grants: $291 Million has been funded
To support the service activities or humanitarian endeavors of districts in communities locally and internationally.

District Simplified Grants: $21 Million has been funded
To support the short-term service activities or humanitarian endeavors of districts in communities locally or internationally.

Ambassadorial Scholarships: $490 Million has been funded
This is one of the largest international scholarship programs in the world.

Group Study Exchange (GSE): $96 Million has been funded
More than 57,000 individuals (about 12,000 teams) from 100 countries have participated.
