Consider Club and Community Service means exactly what it reads: Your Club getting involved in the serving the Community. Consider this the wheel thats steers a car. Without it you can't go anywhere. Is your club out and in the community participating and in the middle of all the action. Read my article in the August online edition of Team Rotary "Is Your Club a Spectator or a Player?" Get some ideas. See what other clubs are doing. To be involved you have to get involved.

Emergency Relief Fund

Hurricane Irene and Lee created some divesting aftermath problems for areas in our district and for Rotarians directly. Flooding was prevalent in Bound Brook, Clinton, Cranford, and Manville and Trenton. I have heard stories of Rotarians losing their homes to over 6’ft of water,Samaritan Homeless interim Program, SHIP in Somerset county lost all of its contents, and many counties are dealing with huge losses of transportation infrastructures due to collapsed bridges. These are just a few examples of why we should start a emergency relief fund in our District.

The fund will be set up as a means to have district ,clubs, individuals, and any outside resources donate. A simple grant will be designed for any club or individual to apply for financial aid. A committee will be formed to accept and approve the grants.

The goal is a sustaining fund for current and future use for emergency relief required within our district’s five counties.
